Day 1 Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
Arrival in Arusha

Your adventure begins with a drive from Arusha to Londorossi Gate, passing through beautiful villages and coffee farms along the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing park registration, a short drive takes you to the trailhead where your trek officially begins. The trail winds through lush rainforest filled with towering trees, colorful birds, and the possibility of spotting black-and-white colobus monkeys. Your guide will introduce you to the mountain's unique ecosystem as you gradually climb to your first overnight camp.

Following switchbacks through scree, we reach Stella Point on the crater rim, where a magnificent sunrise awaits—faster hikers may even witness it from the summit. From Stella Point, it’s a one-hour climb to Uhuru Peak, likely through snow. Congratulations! You’ve reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent! After celebrating, we begin the steep descent to Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch and a brief rest. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended for the loose gravel and ash terrain.
